Banafsheh Violet Nazari

Of Counsel · Oregon

Violet evaluates claims for their validity and strength, gathers evidence from documents and from the people involved, and prepares the firm's presentation to the court. She describes the work as being a bridge between people and what they are seeking from the legal system.

Her view of insurance defense starts with the person on the other end of the policy. Everyone relies on coverage when the unexpected happens, and at the center of every case is someone absorbing the difficulty of the situation. Working with case managers and law clerks early, rather than once a matter is already underway, is what keeps a case running smoothly and keeps solutions in view.

Background

Violet trained first as a mediator, resolving disputes between people directly. After a decade in practice she worked as a policy advocate for local immigrant and refugee organizations, where she helped pass legislation including legal representation for immigrants facing deportation. She is a member of the National Lawyers Guild. Away from the firm she makes pottery, and finds the alchemy of it enchanting.
